Our purpose at BrainChilds Design is to help our clients to tell their stories through visual branding with the end result being lives that are changed in the areas of improved healthcare, spiritual growth and social justice.
We are a family-oriented team with a focus on generational creativity and prosperity. The strength of our relationships helps to define our values and work culture. We extend this spirit of excellence to the relationships we develop with our clients.
Shannon Childs is a fine artist at heart. She has trained in many areas of art such as sculpture, painting, drawing, ceramics, jewelry, printmaking and more. She has studied at the Brooklyn Museum, LaGuardia High School, Cooper Union and Pratt Institute. At Pratt Institute she developed a love for illustration and graphic design. Following college she started her career designing for retail and publishing. Soon after that she started doing freelance design for political organizations. During that time she developed a passion to create design that brings a positive change to people.
In her spare time she loves to inspire people through illustration. She started a blog in 2013 called “Doodles Invigorate,” which encourages healthy thinking, building strong relationships, and expressing love for God. Shannon has also been busy building up her portfolio on Lightstock.com, a Christian stock photography website. In 2018 she took a break to focus on family. Now she is back in action. Stay tuned this year for her new endeavors!
Joy Childs grew up in Massachusetts as a creative spirit with a love for drawing and painting. After graduating from high school she moved to New York City to study art at Pratt Institute where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication Design. She enjoyed life in Brooklyn for many years, working as a graphic designer in the areas of publishing and non-profit organizations.
Over time, Joy has evolved into a seasoned artist with a clean and classic design aesthetic while always looking to keep her skill set on point. She is most recently stretching her ability in the area of video and motion graphics. Joy now resides in northern Virginia. When not at her computer she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends, although her favorite creative pastime is shopping for shoes!
